About Dakota City Heritage Village, Inc.

Dakota City Heritage Village is a nonprofit living-history museum located on the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington, Minnesota. The five-acre site features approximately 22 historical buildings (including an operational blacksmith shop, train depot, schoolhouse and church), period artifacts, and outdoor exhibits that recreate a typical rural Dakota County village circa 1900. The organization operates as a donor- and volunteer-supported 501(c)(3) and offers scheduled living-history events, group tours, school and scout programs, camps and classes by appointment, and public programming tied to the Dakota County Fair and seasonal events. In recent years the village has continued to host annual events (for example Christmas in the Village, Vintage Baseball Day, Family & Friends Fun Day, and special fundraising events such as a Victorian Tea), maintained accessibility improvements to visitor routes, and remained active in community partnerships and county fair programming.
