The Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards (MAWB) advances a skilled and competitive Minnesota workforce by supporting and convening the state's 16 local, employer‑led workforce development boards. MAWB promotes market‑driven workforce strategies, policy advocacy, and capacity building to connect jobseekers, employers, education partners and One‑Stop partners.

About MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF WORKFORCE BOARDS

MAWB is a statewide membership association representing the cooperative efforts of Minnesota’s 16 Workforce Development Boards. It serves as a convener, policy advocate, and capacity‑building organization for local workforce boards, One‑Stop partners and employer partners. MAWB organizes statewide meetings and conferences, maintains multiple standing committees and communities of practice (for example registered apprenticeship and business services), and works collaboratively with the Governor’s Workforce Development Board and Minnesota DEED to align local and state workforce policy. MAWB is an active 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with an established web presence, regular conference programming, and publicly filed annual returns confirming its tax‑exempt status and ongoing operations.

Notable achievements

Statewide Convening and Annual Conferences

MAWB has run recurring statewide events (Annual Summer Conference and Winter Meetings) that convene local workforce boards, state officials, employers and practitioners to share promising practices and sector strategies; recent conferences (2023–2025) featured sessions on AI and the future of work, federal and state legislative updates, and recognized local program innovations through Promising Practices awards.

Promoting Local Promising Practices

Through its Promising Practices awards program, MAWB has highlighted and scaled successful local workforce initiatives (examples include regional apprenticeship and employer partnership projects), helping local workforce boards replicate models across the state.
