HOUSING IN ACTION INC

Housing In Action (formerly Urban Homeworks) is a Minneapolis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that develops affordable homeownership and rental housing, provides homeownership pathways, and organizes neighborhood-based advocacy to advance housing justice. Over its multi-decade history the organization has produced and rehabilitated homes for sale and operates dignified rental units serving households below area median income levels. In the last 2–3 years HIA has expanded its policy and advocacy work, secured major public and philanthropic support, completed energy-efficient “Passive Home” construction, and completed an organizational rebrand to better reflect its housing-justice focus. The organization also recovered operations and fundraising after a significant cyberattack and continues to operate rental and homeownership programs and community engagement in North and central Minneapolis.
