About Breaking Free
Breaking Free is a survivor-centered nonprofit based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, established in 1996 to support people impacted by commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. The organization provides street outreach, long-term housing, individualized advocacy, trauma-informed healing services, and prevention and training to frontline responders and the public.
Breaking Free combines direct services and systems-change advocacy, operating master-leased housing in Saint Paul and partnerships across Ramsey, Washington, and Anoka counties. In recent years the organization has reported measurable impact: in 2024 it supported 267 survivors overall and provided long-term housing to 54 survivors (including 39 children), while training more than a thousand individuals in trafficking recognition and response.
