About Bolder Options

Bolder Options is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that operates a wellness-focused, one-to-one mentoring program for middle school and transitioning youth. The program pairs volunteer mentors with youth for weekly mentoring focused on physical activity, life skills, academic support, and college/career exploration, and continues engagement through an alumni pathway offering internships, leadership development, and scholarships. In recent years Bolder Options has expanded workforce and post-secondary supports and secured state and philanthropic funding to scale services. In SFY2025 (7/1/2024–6/30/2025) the organization reported serving over 130 participants through a state-funded workforce-development initiative and continues to report high match completion and participant satisfaction rates.

Notable achievements

Demonstrated program outcomes in SFY2025

Reported strong outcomes and engagement: cumulative participants served of 132 for the SFY25 grant period, high session quality ratings and program completion, and nearly all participants remained in school or attained program goals reported in the SFY2025 progress report.

Longstanding mentoring excellence

Operates continuously since the 1990s and has expanded an alumni pathway (leadership, internships, scholarships, outdoor learning) while maintaining mentoring best-practice standards and outcome-focused programming.
