About ASIAN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

Asian Economic Development Association (AEDA) is a Saint Paul–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on expanding economic opportunity for low-income Asian Americans in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul region. The organization delivers in-language small-business counseling, financial education and credit-building, a revolving loan fund, creative placemaking, and policy advocacy to increase business ownership and household economic stability.

In the last 2–3 years AEDA has continued to manage and grow the Little Mekong Business & Cultural District and the Little Mekong Night Market, expanded asset-building and loan activities through state grant support, and maintained active program delivery to Asian immigrant entrepreneurs and artists in the Twin Cities.

Little Mekong Business & Cultural District

Founded and continues to manage the Little Mekong Asian Business & Cultural District and its annual Little Mekong Night Market, using cultural placemaking to spotlight Asian-owned small businesses, artists, and cultural activities in Saint Paul.

Secured state grant support for asset-building

Received legislative appropriations and state grant allocations beginning in 2023 (with subsequent legislative actions through 2024–2025) including a $500,000 allocation to expand asset-building and financial capability programs, enabling scaling of loan and credit-building services.

Sustained financial scale and lending activity

Operates a revolving loan fund and delivers in-language business technical assistance and financial education; reported roughly $1.0–1.1M in annual revenue and over $2M in net assets on its most recent fiscal-year Form 990 (fiscal 2024), reflecting continued program operations and financial stewardship.
