About CITIZENS COUNCIL FOR HEALTH FREEDOM

Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1998 and based in St. Paul, Minnesota. The organization focuses on protecting patient and physician choice, medical privacy, and free-market approaches to health policy. CCHF conducts policy research, publishes educational materials and periodic reports, develops model state legislation, and actively monitors and testifies before state legislatures and Congress. The group operates an active communications program (news releases, podcasts, video, a Substack newsletter and other outreach) and maintains advocacy resources such as the Patient Toolbox and The Wedge directory of independent cash-based clinicians. CCHF is led by co-founder and president Twila Brase, RN, PHN, and a small professional staff and board of directors. In recent years the organization has been active on issues including HIPAA reform, newborn genetic privacy, opposition to REAL ID implementation, Medicare opt-out and policy critiques of federal and state health programs.
