About BANYAN FOUNDATION
Banyan Foundation (also operating as Banyan Community) is a neighborhood-rooted youth and family development organization based in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. It provides after-school enrichment, summer learning, academic support, post-secondary success services, family engagement and leadership programs, basic-needs assistance, and a senior social club. Banyan takes a holistic, relationship-driven approach that connects youth, families, and neighbors to build social capital, residential stability, and collective efficacy within a low-income urban neighborhood. The organization partners with local funders, academic researchers, and community stakeholders to measure outcomes and refine programs.

Banyan Effect study with Rice University
Completed a neighborhood-level impact study demonstrating increased collective efficacy and residential stability among Banyan families compared with neighborhood peers, documenting measurable community-level change.
School’s Cool reach (2026–27 preparation)
Prepared to support roughly 175 K–12 students through the School’s Cool program (backpacks, supplies, uniforms and school-readiness supports) for the 2026–27 school year, expanding basic supports that enable school success.
