OPPORTUNITY NEIGHBORHOOD

Opportunity Neighborhood is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates onsite resident services, safety initiatives, early childhood and out-of-school programming, and community-building activities within large affordable housing communities across the Twin Cities metro area. The organization is headquartered in the Elk River/New Brighton area and has provided resident-focused services since the late 1990s.

Programs include courtesy patrol and other safety initiatives, case management and information/referral, early childhood education, after-school and teen programming, literacy supports, and community events (for example National Night Out). In recent years Opportunity Neighborhood has reported measurable outcomes — including reductions in crime calls at sites with safety programming, higher resident retention compared with national averages, and positive literacy and youth outcomes documented in 2023–2024 programming summaries.
