About BLOOM EARLY LEARNING

Established in 2000, Bloom Early Learning & Child Care is a nonprofit early childhood education provider that serves children from six weeks to five years. The organization was founded to expand access to high-quality early learning for low-income and single-parent families and operates multiple licensed center locations in the Plymouth/Wayzata area of Hennepin County, Minnesota. Bloom combines accredited, play- and developmentally based curriculum with a scholarship-focused enrollment model: up to half of total enrollment is dedicated to families needing tuition assistance. Bloom is NAEYC-accredited, holds a high Parent Aware rating, maintains active Minnesota DHS child care licensing, and raises dedicated scholarship funds (the Shirley Robinson Scholarship Fund) to subsidize tuition for low-income families. The organization continues regular fundraising and community engagement activities and reports sustained scholarship fundraising and program operations in recent years.

Notable achievements

NAEYC Accreditation & Parent Aware 4-Star

Bloom achieved national program accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children and holds a top-tier Parent Aware quality rating, signaling sustained adherence to high early-learning standards.

Scholarship-centered enrollment model

Bloom reserves up to 50% of its capacity for children from low-income families through the Shirley Robinson Scholarship Fund and partner assistance programs, enabling mixed-income classrooms and targeted support for families seeking financial stability.

Program expansion to a second center

Bloom expanded its capacity with a second center (opened in 2019) to serve additional children in the community, increasing access to subsidized, high-quality early learning slots.
