About MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF CHARTER SCHOOLS

The Minnesota Association of Charter Schools (MACS) is a statewide, member-driven nonprofit that represents and supports chartered public schools across Minnesota. It functions as an advocacy, information and service organization for charter school leaders, boards, authorizers and stakeholders and has maintained tax-exempt status and annual public filings. MACS provides technical assistance, professional development, and member services including trainings for charter boards, statewide conferences, and publications that document charter-authorizing practices and sector finances. Its resources and reports are used by member schools, authorizers, education agencies, and policymakers to inform oversight, funding and accountability decisions. In the last 2–3 years MACS has been active in publishing sector analyses (including authorizer income/expenditure and compensation surveys), convening members at annual meetings, and participating in legislative and policy discussions related to charter accountability, authorizing and school finance.
