About RESOURCEWEST

ResourceWest is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving families and individuals in the West Metro (Hopkins, Minnetonka and surrounding communities). The organization provides individualized case management, emergency assistance, and children & youth programs that connect neighbors to resources and help them move toward greater stability. Programs include drop-in and appointment-based case management, Back-to-School backpacks and supplies, Winter Warm Wear, a Toy Chest, childcare-related supports, and referrals to housing, transportation, and workforce resources. ResourceWest operates with bilingual staff (English/Spanish and Somali/English), provides all services free of charge, and partners closely with Hopkins and Minnetonka public schools and local community organizations. In recent years ResourceWest has expanded services and organizational capacity: it launched a 2024–2027 strategic plan, moved operations to a new Minnetonka location to increase accessibility, and reported annual revenues on the order of $0.5M (FY2024), reflecting sustained donor and community support for its direct-assistance work.

Notable achievements

Back-to-School reach (2022)

Provided backpacks and school supplies to 1,082 K–12 students in the Hopkins and Minnetonka school districts through the Back-to-School program, leveraging corporate matching and community donations to maximize reach.

Organizational growth and strategic plan

Completed and adopted a 2024–2027 Strategic Plan to guide program alignment, equity-focused practices, fund development, and community partnership growth; expanded service capacity and relocated to a more accessible Minnetonka site in 2024 to better serve neighbors.
