About WORLD CARES CENTER INC

World Cares Center (WCC) is a New York–based 501(c)(3) that trains, coordinates and supports community volunteers and local leaders to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. Founded in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 response by spontaneous unaffiliated community volunteers, WCC emphasizes safe, integrated citizen response through training, credentialing and resource distribution.

The organization operates programs including Ready Responders training, the Collaborative Disaster Volunteer Credential, a Ready Responder coordination center, and free PPE distribution to responders. WCC maintains ongoing disaster responses and preparedness work internationally (e.g., Haiti, Ukraine) and domestically, and it runs recurring fundraisers and public events (including a 2026 25th‑anniversary Stars Under the Stars fundraiser).

WCC is an active, donor-facing charity with public Form 990 filings (most recent filing reporting FY2024 activity), an operational website and documented program activity in 2023–2026 including PPE distribution, storm response, training events and community resilience initiatives.

Notable achievements

Quarter-century of service (founded post‑9/11)

Large‑scale volunteer training & recovery

Across major responses (notably post‑Superstorm Sandy), WCC has managed large volunteer training efforts and community recovery work — historically reporting preparation of over a thousand homes for rebuilding and training tens of thousands of local volunteers during major recovery campaigns.

PPE distribution and multi‑theater responses

WCC organized free distribution of PPE to frontline responders during COVID and continues to supply protective equipment and operational support during recent domestic storms and international responses (including Haiti and Ukraine relief efforts).
