Our mission is to provide an accessible and high-quality accredited nurse anesthesia educational program that promotes safe and evidence-based care within a doctoral framework. We empower diverse students to achieve their educational goals and become competent registered nurse anesthetists. About MINNEAPOLIS SCHOOL OF ANESTHESIA

Minneapolis School of Anesthesia (MSA) is a nonprofit, accredited nurse anesthesia educational institution based in St. Paul, Minnesota. It operates a three-year (36-month) Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in partnership with Metropolitan State University that prepares registered nurses for certification as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).

MSA combines classroom instruction, high-fidelity simulation, cadaver experiences, and clinical rotations at major Twin Cities hospitals and regional sites across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. The school has a long institutional history of preparing anesthesia providers and is registered with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and accredited by relevant nursing and anesthesia accreditors.

MSA reported 100% first-time NBCRNA (NCE) pass rate for its 2024 and 2025 cohorts, with a 10-year overall NCE pass rate average of 87.3% (2016–2025).

The program reported 100% job placement within six months for the 2025 cohort and a low long-term attrition rate (10-year attrition 2.4%), demonstrating strong employment outcomes and student retention.

Sustained institutional continuity

MSA has operated for many decades as a dedicated nurse anesthesia school (roots traced back to early 20th century) and has maintained continuous tax-exempt nonprofit status since 1967 while evolving to a DNP-degree model in affiliation with Metro State University.
