KOKUA SUPPORT SERVICES

Kokua Support Services (KSS) is a Honolulu-based 501(c)(3) behavioral health nonprofit incorporated in 2003 (formerly Hale Ipu Kukui Alakai; rebranded in 2014). The organization provides outpatient substance use treatment (including Intensive Outpatient/IOP), comprehensive assessments (DUI/SAP and related), continuing care, and benefits-management/representative-payee services. KSS operates with both public- and private-payer contracts and partnerships with state agencies and the Judiciary, serving court-referred and community clients across Oʻahu (with documented service activity on Hawaiʻi Island/Hilo). In recent years the organization has reported steady operating revenues and has continued direct client services, insurance-based billing (HMSA, BC/BS and others listed on the organization site), and payments for court-ordered treatment. Financially and operationally KSS has shown multi-year continuity: Form 990 data for 2022–2024 shows total annual revenues rising from the mid-six-figure range to approximately $0.8M (fiscal 2024) with the majority of revenue coming from program services, and state judiciary reporting documents list KSS among active treatment providers (KSS served roughly 69–70 Judiciary-paid clients in the 2023 reporting year).
