About HOMELESS VETERANS SERVICES OF DALLAS INC

Founded in 2004, Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas (HVSD) operates as a veteran-focused service provider that serves as the front-line point of contact for veterans seeking housing, benefits navigation, employment assistance and peer support. HVSD manages the Veterans Resource Center of Dallas and runs programs including a day center, an employment center (including a welding training program), benefits assessments, peer support, and coordination of Stand Down events in partnership with VA North Texas. HVSD is an IRS-recognized tax-exempt organization (tax-exempt status established in 2004) and maintains an active web presence through the Veterans Resource Center site. In the last 2–3 years the organization has continued program delivery and received competitive state grant funding to expand veteran support services, and it partners with local and state veteran service agencies for referrals and funded initiatives.

Opened and Manages the Veterans Resource Center

Since the Veterans Resource Center opened in 2011, HVSD has managed daily operations of the center to provide walk-in services, employment support, training, and connection to VA and community resources.

Awarded Texas Fund for Veterans’ Assistance Grant (2024)

In 2024 HVSD was awarded a Fund for Veterans’ Assistance grant to support homeless veteran services, enabling expansion of direct support and program delivery.

Developed 'StopOne' Veteran Suicide Prevention Initiative

HVSD developed and promoted a veteran-focused suicide-prevention training/initiative (branded as StopOne) to raise awareness and provide training for veteran suicide prevention and first-responder education.
