About THE HISTIO CURE FOUNDATION, INC.
The Histio CURE Foundation (HCF) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 45-2050298) founded in 2011 by parents, grandparents and patients affected by histiocytic disorders to accelerate medical research toward a cure.
HCF directs 100% of donations designated for research to scientific teams and programs, has a strong partnership with the Histiocytosis Program at Texas Children’s Hospital, and supports genetic and translational studies such as the “Spit for a CURE” initiative.
The foundation focuses on grantmaking for research, targeted fundraising events (notably Hike for a CURE), and expanding support to adult histio research, HLH research, and long-term outcome studies including neurodegeneration follow-up.
Notable achievements
Sustained research funding
Since inception, HCF has donated more than $2 million to histiocytosis research, providing seed support that enabled further large-scale grants and studies.
Published research support
HCF-supported projects have contributed to multiple peer-reviewed research papers authored by the histiocytosis research teams it funds.
Support for major genetics study
Played a central role in supporting and promoting the Spit for a CURE initiative to collect family saliva samples for genetic analysis of histiocytic disease risk.
