MICHIGAN BALLET ACADEMY

Michigan Ballet Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ballet school based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, providing world-class classical ballet training through pre-professional, recreational, and adult programs. The organization produces full-length evening productions each season (including an annual Nutcracker) and operates summer intensives and year-round class offerings for students beginning at age three. The school was founded by former Grand Rapids Ballet principal dancers and draws students from across West Michigan; its training pathway and faculty have supported students who have placed at regional and national competitions and advanced into professional programs. Michigan Ballet Academy maintains community partnerships and presents multiple public performances each year as primary programmatic activity. In the last 2–3 years MBA has remained active and donor-facing: it announced a new Artistic Director in January 2024, continues to operate its Summer Intensive and mainstage season, has formed partnerships to expand professional performance opportunities, and reported annual operating revenue in the low-to-mid six-figure range in its most recent filings.
