HAIRTOSTAY
To make scalp cooling treatment affordable and accessible for cancer patients nationwide so they can preserve hair, privacy, identity, and dignity during chemotherapy.
About HAIRTOSTAY
HairToStay is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in San Francisco focused on subsidizing scalp cooling (cold cap) treatments that can reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss. The organization operates a patient-facing subsidy program, raises public awareness about scalp cooling, and partners with suppliers and corporate sponsors to expand access for low-income patients. Since its founding in 2016 HairToStay has grown into a national program that both directly awards subsidies to qualifying patients and cultivates industry and philanthropic partnerships to scale funding. In recent years the charity has continued active fundraising (including an annual gala), corporate partnerships, and public outreach while reporting multi-year operating activity and growing financial reserves to support subsidies across all 50 states.
Notable achievements
Large-scale patient subsidies
Since inception the organization has distributed several million dollars in subsidies to help thousands of low-income cancer patients afford scalp cooling treatments, substantially increasing access to this FDA-cleared option.
Sustained corporate partnerships
Established ongoing collaborations with haircare brands, salons, and consumer-product partners that generate program funding and awareness (examples include product-campaign fundraising and co-sponsored subsidy programs).
Annual flagship fundraising event
Hosts a high-profile gala that both raises unrestricted funds for subsidies and builds visibility among donors, volunteers, and hair-industry partners.
