About VETERANS YOGA PROJECT

Veterans Yoga Project (VYP) is a national educational and outreach 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 45-3606064) founded to support recovery and resilience among veterans, military families, and communities through trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, and teacher training. VYP trains yoga teachers, clinicians, and service providers to deliver safe, predictable programs and partners with VA facilities, Vet Centers, student veteran organizations, veteran treatment courts, and community groups to deliver programming.

In the past 2–3 years VYP has published annual reports and maintained audited financials while expanding program delivery (both in-person and online). Recent organizational reporting highlights sustained program growth, continual teacher training, and documented clinical effects of its Mindful Resilience approach on veteran pain and stress indicators, alongside stable financial support from contributions, training income, and grants.

Notable achievements

Large-scale teacher training

Since its founding, VYP has trained more than 1,500 yoga teachers and healthcare providers in its Mindful Resilience Training (MRT), equipping instructors to work with veterans and trauma-affected populations.

Program reach and scale

VYP-trained instructors teach over 100 free yoga classes each week (more than 350 classes per month) across VA sites, Vet Centers, active-duty and community organizations, totaling nearly 5,000 classes annually in recent reporting.

Documented clinical impact

VYP has collected program outcome data showing consistent reductions in participant pain and stress (reported program analyses indicate average reductions of roughly 70% per encounter) and has expanded efforts to better document outcomes through its Teachers Alliance and evaluation activities.
