About LINCOLN HEIGHTS EDUCATION PROJECT INC

Lincoln Heights Education Project (LHEP) is a small, IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Los Angeles that supports Lincoln High School students through scholarships, a mentoring program, and community education activities. The organization oversees the May Kishiyama Memorial Scholarship and the Lincoln High Mentoring Program, pairing volunteer Lincoln High alumni mentors with students to provide guidance, enrichment, and college preparation. LHEP has an active local presence (website and social updates) and recent program activity, including summer mentoring sessions, campus visits, and annual mentor–mentee events. May Kishiyama Scholarship growth

The May Kishiyama Memorial Scholarship program expanded from three awards totaling $1,500 in 2008 to roughly thirty-plus scholarships and tens of thousands of dollars annually; in 2025 the program awarded 37 scholarships totaling approximately $42,000.

Longstanding scholarship impact

LHEP reports having awarded more than 390 scholarships to Lincoln High students over its history, demonstrating sustained financial support to local graduates.

Established mentoring program

The Lincoln High Mentoring Program (part of LHEP since 2012) runs year-round activities including summer sessions, campus visits, workshops, and mentor–mentee events, maintaining 20+ mentor–mentee pairs and 25+ active volunteers.
