About UNIDOS MINNESOTA EDUCATION FUND

UNIDOS Minnesota Education Fund (Unidos MN Education Fund) is a Minneapolis-based 501(c)(3) grassroots organization that organizes Latinx and multiracial communities across Minnesota to build leadership, deepen civic participation, and advance policy change on immigration, education, climate, and economic justice. The organization pairs direct community services (know-your-rights, workforce and apprenticeship readiness, home energy and sustainable-homes initiatives) with long-term power-building campaigns and civic engagement work, while operating alongside a separately incorporated 501(c)(4) for electoral and lobbying activities. In the last several years Unidos MN has led statewide advocacy and community response efforts — including work on driver's licenses access, immigration enforcement response, workforce/apprenticeship pathways, and clean-energy home retrofit programs — and continues to run community trainings, campaigns, and programs across the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

Notable achievements

Driver’s Licenses for All — statewide policy win

Unidos MN played a central role in community organizing and public education for Minnesota’s Driver’s Licenses for All campaign, contributing to the coalition work that resulted in passage of the law in 2023 and implementation activities that followed.

Sustainable Homes program partnership

Through partnerships with community energy organizations and funders, Unidos MN helped design and mobilize outreach for a Sustainable Homes initiative (clean-energy retrofits, heat pumps, solar/geothermal) targeted to low- and moderate-income families and led resident engagement efforts in 2024–2025.

Workforce & apprenticeship pathways

Unidos MN built and expanded apprenticeship-readiness and workforce partnership programming—connecting community members, including youth and BIPOC residents, to training, credentialing pathways, and job-placement supports in construction and related trades.
