About American Association of Woodturners

The American Association of Woodturners (AAW) is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Saint Paul, MN, dedicated to advancing the art and craft of woodturning worldwide through education, information, and organization. The organization supports professional and hobbyist turners, chapters, galleries, publications, and large-scale events. AAW operates a broad portfolio of services including the award-winning journal American Woodturner, the AAW Gallery of Wood Art in Saint Paul’s Landmark Center, an online learning portal and education resources, and the annual International Woodturning Symposium. International Symposium (annual)

AAW’s Annual International Woodturning Symposium is the organization’s flagship event — described as the world’s largest gathering of woodturning enthusiasts — regularly drawing more than 1,000 in-person attendees and featuring multi-day demonstrations, panels, an instant gallery, and a trade show.

Gallery, publications and education

AAW operates the AAW Gallery of Wood Art in Saint Paul and publishes American Woodturner six times per year; it also offers extensive online education (Woodturning Fundamentals, AAW Explore) and contemporary wood art auctions that expand access and visibility for the craft.
