The mission of Accion Opportunity Fund (AOF) is to assist in building world‑class microfinance institutions in the United States to enhance economic development by increasing access to credit and otherwise promoting financial inclusion and health for members of low‑to‑moderate income communities.
About ACCION OPPORTUNITY FUND INC
Accion Opportunity Fund (AOF) is a San Jose–based nonprofit small business lender and technical assistance provider that formed from the 2020 merger of the Accion U.S. Network and Opportunity Fund. It delivers affordable loan products, one‑on‑one advising, digital learning, and programs targeted to entrepreneurs who have historically lacked access to mainstream capital. AOF operates nationally (through its community development lending arm, AOFCD) and combines lending with coaching, partnerships, and policy work to increase economic mobility for underserved business owners. The organization reports multi‑year audited financial statements, CDFI and New Markets Tax Credit activity, and publicly available Form 990s showing ongoing lending and program operations.
Notable achievements

Since inception AOF’s lending arm has made tens of thousands of loans (over 28,700) totaling roughly $910 million, and in fiscal year ending June 30, 2024 AOF disbursed approximately $96.9 million under its loan programs.
Merger formed a national leader
AOF was created through the 2020 merger of the Accion U.S. Network and Opportunity Fund, creating a single nonprofit lender that combines national reach, digital tools, and localized coaching to serve underserved entrepreneurs.
New Markets Tax Credit deployment
Through its Community Development Entity work, AOFCD has been allocated and deployed substantial New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) authority (reported cumulative allocations of approximately $498 million) to support community impact real‑estate projects.
