About DANCE FILM SF INC

Dance Film SF (DFSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit producer of the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and year-round programs that develop, commission, present, and tour dance-based film and media. Founded in 2010, the organization operates a public festival, the Co-Lab commissioning/production program, workshops, and a Touring Reel program for educational and institutional screenings. In the last several years DFSF has continued annual festival programming (including a robust 2024–2026 series of screenings and special events), sustained its Co-Lab commissions, and expanded distribution through touring packages and online streaming opportunities. These year-round activities support filmmaker–choreographer collaborations, public engagement, and outreach beyond the Bay Area. DFSF emphasizes community-building and equity: it produces new works for camera, programs international premieres alongside local films, and provides educational and access-oriented screening options to broaden audience access to dance on film.
