About 2020 Mom / Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health
The organization founded in 2011 as 2020 Mom operates as a national policy center (DBA: Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health) focused on advancing policies and systems that ensure routine detection and treatment of maternal mental health disorders. The rebrand to the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health took place in 2023 as part of a strategy to center policy, implementation, and scaling of maternal mental health solutions. The Policy Center’s work spans policy research, pilot projects to integrate state-certified peer support and maternal mental health services into obstetric and community settings, and advocacy to pass and implement state and federal policies that expand screening, treatment access, and insurance/Medicaid coverage. In recent years the organization has helped incubate Mom Congress (now an independent nonprofit launched in 2024), run community ACTION projects, and engaged funders such as the California Health Care Foundation to support implementation and convening activities.
