PARKLAND CENTER FOR CLINICAL INNOVATION
To improve community health for vulnerable and underserved populations by applying clinical expertise, data science, and non-medical drivers of health (NMDoH) analytics to develop scalable, AI-driven solutions that enable earlier, more equitable care.
About PARKLAND CENTER FOR CLINICAL INNOVATION
PCCI (Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation) is a Dallas-based, mission-driven 501(c)(3) research organization that originated within Parkland Health and spun out as an independent nonprofit to scale innovations that improve care for underserved populations. The organization develops and deploys AI/ML predictive models and NMDoH analytics—powered by platforms such as Isthmus™, ISLET™, IRIS™, and the Community Vulnerability Compass—to support safety-net hospitals, health systems, payers, public health entities, and community partners. PCCI reports large-scale impact from its work (including millions of AI-driven predictions and patient engagements), publishes peer-reviewed research on its methods, and partners with regional and national organizations to advance health equity and data-driven community interventions.
Notable achievements
Peer‑reviewed validation of Community Vulnerability Compass
PCCI authored and published a peer‑reviewed paper describing the Community Vulnerability Compass (CVC), a block‑level NMDoH measurement tool that the organization validated against existing indices and individual‑level screening data, strengthening the evidence base for its SDOH analytics.
Scaled AI model deployments and measurable reach
PCCI has designed and deployed dozens of AI/ML models for clinical decision support and population health; recent program summaries report tens of millions of AI predictions and multi‑million patient engagements, with millions of residents identified as high‑risk to prioritize outreach and services.
Proprietary NMDoH platforms and secured architecture
PCCI developed interoperable data environments and NMDoH technologies (Isthmus™, ISLET™, IRIS™) including patented elements and an architecture built in compliance with the HITRUST Common Security Framework to support secure, scalable deployments in clinical and community settings.
