About STEP into a Job!

STEP into a Job! is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) workforce development nonprofit that provides donor-supported training, scholarships, and wraparound services for people transitioning into healthcare careers. The organization operates employer‑aligned training pathways (powered by Bay Area Medical Academy programs) that combine technical instruction, clinical externships, and placement supports to prepare graduates for roles such as medical assistant and phlebotomy technician. In recent years (notably 2022–2024), STEP into a Job! scaled its program model through major grant support and by onboarding employer partners to host externships and hiring events, with active Form 990 filings documenting program expansion in 2023.
