About GRAND RAPIDS DOWNTOWN MARKET EDUCATION FOUNDATION

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market Education Foundation is the nonprofit arm of the Grand Rapids Downtown Market that supports culinary and nutrition education, food entrepreneurship, urban agriculture, and workforce development. The Foundation operates programs and events and manages the Market’s 5,000 sq. ft. Incubator Kitchen to provide accessible commercial kitchen space, business guidance, and subsidized services to emerging and underserved food entrepreneurs.

The Foundation’s work combines hands-on training, networking (Culinary Conversations), public events (including Christkindl Markt), and greenhouse programming to strengthen the regional food economy. Recent organizational activity has included continued Culinary Conversations programming, entrepreneur bootcamps and showcases (notably events in 2024), and ongoing operation of the Incubator Kitchen, which the organization reports supports hundreds of entrepreneurs annually and contributes to a multi-million-dollar local economic impact.

Notable achievements
