LA COMPOST
Empowering communities by creating spaces for local compost access. LA Compost connects people of Los Angeles to the soil and each other through community-scale composting infrastructure, education, and hands-on programs that keep food and yard waste out of landfills and returned to local soil.
About LA COMPOST
LA Compost is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 46-1134852) that builds and operates a decentralized network of community compost drop-offs, regional compost hubs, education programs, and public events to increase local access to finished compost and soil stewardship. The organization runs farmers market drop-offs, community and regional compost hubs (including an operational hub at Griffith Park under a multi-year agreement approved in 2024), a mobile education program (the Magic Soil Bus), and recurring public events such as Community Compost Day LA to distribute compost, teach residents how to compost, and strengthen neighborhood food–soil systems.
