About MINNESOTA BACH ENSEMBLE

The Minnesota Bach Ensemble (MBE) was founded in 2013 as a chamber orchestra of Twin Cities professional musicians focused on the works of J.S. Bach and other Baroque and early Classical composers. MBE combines period performance practice with modern instruments in intimate concert settings and programs talks and contextual material to deepen audience engagement. Under the artistic leadership of co‑Artistic Directors Linh Kauffman and Tami Morse (serving jointly beginning in the 2024/25 season) and an active executive team and board, MBE presents multi‑program seasons (the organization announced its 2025–26 "Perspectives: The Baroque Revealed" season) and performs at regional venues such as Antonello Hall (MacPhail) and Sundin Music Hall at Hamline University. The ensemble maintains an active public-facing web presence, ongoing season programming, and collaborations with other Minnesota arts organizations.

Notable achievements

Sustained growth since founding

Founded in 2013, MBE has grown into a stable regional ensemble now entering its thirteenth season and regularly programs multi‑concert seasons showcasing both core Bach repertoire and lesser-known Baroque works.

Artistic leadership transition

The ensemble established a co‑Artistic Director model beginning in the 2024/25 season with Linh Kauffman and Tami Morse, strengthening artistic programming and visibility while retaining active musician leadership on the artistic committee.

Regional artistic collaborations

MBE musicians and soloists have collaborated with major regional presenters and ensembles (including the Minnesota Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and prominent festivals), expanding the ensemble’s reach and artistic profile.
