About SEJONG ACADEMY

Sejong Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Saint Paul, Minnesota offering Korean-English immersion and serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade. The school emphasizes bilingualism, intercultural understanding, and academically rigorous instruction while serving a high proportion of English-language learners and low-income families. Sejong operates as an authorized IB World School for its upper grades and works with a Minnesota charter authorizer to meet state performance and accountability requirements. In recent years the school has grown its programs and facilities, continued annual public 990 filings, and implemented community supports such as universal school meals under the Community Eligibility Provision.

Notable achievements

IB Middle Years Program authorization

Sejong Academy received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) for its upper grades, integrating an international, inquiry-based curriculum into grades 7–10.

Growth to PreK–12 and facility expansion

Founded in 2014 as a K–6 Korean immersion charter, Sejong expanded to serve Pre-K through 12th grade and moved into upgraded facilities as enrollment grew from roughly a few dozen students at opening to several hundred students within the first seven years.

Universal school meals (CEP)

Approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision, Sejong provides free breakfast and lunch to all students to reduce food insecurity and remove barriers to learning.
