About Friends of Barr Lake

Friends of Barr Lake is a small, membership‑based nonprofit partner to Barr Lake State Park that raises funds, supports interpretive and accessibility projects, and organizes community education and stewardship events in collaboration with Colorado Parks & Wildlife and local partners.

In the last 2–3 years the organization has emphasized accessibility (track‑chair program and related fundraising), interpretive and cultural projects (tipi renovation and signage), and community events such as the Harvest Festival while continuing ongoing programs in raptor education, youth nature programming, and conservation monitoring.

Tipi renovation & interpretive signage

Launched a project (budgeted at approximately $5,000) to renovate the park tipi and install interpretive signage that honors Indigenous history and educates visitors about cultural connections to the land.
