About AYA YOUTH COLLECTIVE

AYA Youth Collective (EIN 46-2391112) is a Grand Rapids-based 501(c)(3) that provides low-barrier drop-in services, supportive housing, and coordinated resources for youth ages roughly 14–24 who are experiencing housing instability. The organization combines a youth drop-in center offering basic needs, vital document recovery, health and employment navigation, and relational supports with a supportive housing program where mentors live alongside youth in shared homes. Since a 2020 merger of two local youth-serving organizations, AYA has grown its program footprint and funding base. In recent years the charity has expanded housing capacity, increased the number of unique youth served (nearly 800 unique youth reported in 2024), recovered 100+ vital documents in 2023, and secured multi-year philanthropic and public funding to scale services and employment supports.

Notable achievements

Organizational merger and scale-up

In 2020 AYA formed from the merger of two established local programs, creating a single youth-centered agency that streamlined drop-in services and a direct pathway to supportive housing.

Housing outcomes and capacity

AYA reports having housed more than 90 youth since its housing work began and can operate approximately 35 supportive-housing beds at a time; historically about 90% of youth in its transitional housing move to safe, stable housing or reunite with family.

Document recovery & reach

In 2023 AYA supported 100+ youth with vital document recovery and served close to 800 unique youth annually through its drop-in center and outreach services, enabling access to housing, employment, and benefits.
