The Master's Apprentice
The Master’s Apprentice is a faith-based, tuition-free nonprofit that provides young adults a bridge to skilled-trades careers through basic training, on-the-job experience, industry certifications and career coaching.
About The Master's Apprentice
The Master’s Apprentice runs a free, full-time, six-week pre-apprenticeship program in Denver that exposes participants to multiple construction trades (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, renewable energy and more), offers hands-on labs and site visits, and helps graduates move into paid apprenticeships.
The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and emphasizes workforce placement and long-term stability for learners from low-income backgrounds by providing certifications (OSHA-10, NCCER-related training), weekly stipends while enrolled, and ongoing success coaching after graduation.
Notable achievements
Major national grant to expand capacity (2024)
Awarded a large grant from a national foundation in 2024 to grow recruitment, provide stipends and OSHA-certified training and to support acquisition of larger facilities to scale the tuition-free program.
Partnership for student living‑expense support (2024)
Entered a 2024 partnership that makes zero-interest living‑expense loans available to qualifying students so they can complete the full six-week program rather than work during training.
Documented program growth and outcomes
MAP reports over 1,000 graduates to date, multi-hundred graduating classes in recent years (hundreds of graduates in 2023) and high placement outcomes into paid apprenticeships, reflecting sustained organizational growth and increasing financial resources.
