Somali Artifact and Cultural Museum (Somali Museum of Minnesota)

The Somali Artifact and Cultural Museum (also operating as the Somali Museum of Minnesota) is a donor-facing 501(c)(3) cultural institution in Minneapolis devoted to preserving and advancing Somali traditional culture and art. Founded by Osman M. Ali and operating a public gallery since 2013, the museum cares for a large collection of traditional nomadic artifacts and contemporary Somali art and uses exhibitions, performances, workshops, school tours, and traveling exhibits to educate diverse audiences.

In recent years the museum has expanded programming across Greater Minnesota, increased its digital reach, and pursued relocation/expansion to a larger facility to properly preserve and display its collection. The organization is active in community-facing cultural programming (dance troupe, weaving workshops, Somali 101 tours) and reports substantial engagement numbers in its most recent annual materials.
