About UNCOMMON SPORTS GROUP

Uncommon Sports Group (USG) is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Minneapolis that builds Christ-centered community and career development for students and young professionals working in collegiate and professional sports. USG operates an eight-week virtual USG Academy with fully funded in-person Impact Weekends, runs domestic and international mission trips, and funds scholarships and industry training through an eCommerce program that re-sells donated sportswear. In the last 2–3 years USG has expanded its Academy cohorts and Impact Weekends (multiple cohorts in 2023–2024), hosted the Christians Working in Sports conference, and continued to scale scholarship and mission-trip funding for early-career sports industry professionals.

Notable achievements

USG Academy scale

Built and scaled an eight-week USG Academy plus fully funded Impact Weekend capstones; the organization reports more than 300 Academy graduates and dedicated Academy funding to support hands-on career and spiritual development.

Scholarships awarded

Awarded more than $376,000 in scholarships to students pursuing careers in college and professional sports.

Mission trips & donation operations

Ran 25–30 fully funded mission trips supporting over 150 participants and operated a large eCommerce 'Clean Out For A Cause' donation pipeline that has processed over 1,100,000 pounds of donated sportswear to fund programs.
