About BRONX IS BLOOMING

The Bronx is Blooming (BiB) is a Bronx-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that organizes community-driven park revitalization, tree stewardship, and youth leadership programs across neighborhood parks and green spaces. BiB trains local youth to lead volunteer projects, runs seasonal job and internship programs, and offers weekend community events, school partnerships, and corporate/team volunteer opportunities. Since its founding in 2011, BiB reports providing 480+ seasonal jobs to Bronx youth and engaging more than 24,000 volunteers who have contributed 175,000+ hours of service to steward over 20,000 trees and dozens of neighborhood parks. In recent years the organization has scaled programming through new partnerships and grant awards to expand tree planting, stewardship, and workforce training. BiB remains active and donor-facing with ongoing programming (tree giveaways, weekly park revitalization events, youth PLACE and bridge programs) and public events listed on its website and social channels, reflecting continuous community engagement and capacity-building across the borough.

Notable achievements

$5M USDA Urban & Community Forestry Grant

Awarded a $5 million Urban & Community Forestry grant to expand tree planting, stewardship, environmental education, and workforce training across the Bronx, enabling plans to engage thousands of students and provide job training and certifications for youth.

Large-scale volunteer and youth impact

Since 2011 BiB has provided 480+ seasonal jobs to Bronx youth, engaged 24,000+ volunteers for 175,000+ service hours, and helped steward and plant over 20,000 trees in 20+ parks and green spaces across the Bronx.
