About GREEN CARD VOICES

Green Card Voices (GCV) is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit that amplifies immigrant and refugee first-person stories through multimedia — including video oral histories, books, traveling exhibits, a podcast, and a conversation card game called Story Stitch. The organization reports having recorded the life stories of 500+ immigrants and refugees from more than 140 countries and reaches broad audiences via publications, school and library partnerships, public exhibits, and community programming. In the last 2–3 years GCV has been actively publishing its bilingual children’s graphic-novel series (Our Stories Carried Us Here) including the 2023 volume Voice for Refuge, continued Story Stitch facilitator training and events, and annual public programs such as the Becoming Neighbors event and Raise Your Voice awards. GCV operates a co-leadership model and emphasizes community co-creation, educator resources, and programs designed to build empathy and civic understanding.
