About Karma & Jyamu Bhotia Foundation
Small, volunteer-run U.S. nonprofit (EIN 46-4266938) founded by Karma and Jyamu Bhotia to support schools, daycare, libraries and community projects in remote mountain villages of Nepal.
The foundation funds construction and maintenance of school facilities, runs school-lunch and daycare programs, supports women’s economic and health initiatives, and organizes volunteer treks and fundraising events to sustain its work.
Notable achievements
School built in Chyamtang
Constructed a multi-room school in Chyamtang to replace earthquake-damaged facilities, creating classroom space and improving local access to education.
Public library established
Set up a community library and provided textbooks and reading materials for students who could not otherwise afford them.
Post-earthquake relief & rebuilding
Led local fundraising and relief efforts that supported rebuilding housing, sanitation and water access for affected mountain villages following Nepal’s earthquakes.
