About GLOBAL SURGERY ALLIANCE (The G4 Alliance)

Global Surgery Alliance (commonly branded as The G4 Alliance) is a membership-driven international civil-society alliance that advocates for increased access to safe, essential surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia care worldwide. The organization unites professional associations, NGOs, and institutions to advance policy, awareness, and resource mobilization for SOTA (surgical, obstetric, trauma, anaesthesia) care. The G4 Alliance operates as an active, donor-facing 501(c)(3) organization with an ongoing program of policy engagement, member services, events, and capacity-building initiatives; in recent years it has led global advocacy at World Health Assembly side events, produced movement-level policy and impact reports, and launched fellowship and membership programs to strengthen the global SOTA community.

Notable achievements

Decennial Report – '10 Years of Impact'

Published and presented its Decennial Report marking ten years of the global surgery movement, highlighting the Alliance's advocacy achievements, member-led initiatives, and consolidated movement impact presented at the tenth-anniversary events in 2025.

Sustained World Health Assembly Engagement

Regularly convened and represented civil-society SOTA interests at World Health Assembly meetings and related side events (including activity around WHA sessions in 2024–2026), elevating surgical care priorities in global policy fora.

Fellowship and Membership Expansion

Launched fellowship offerings and expanded member services to build leadership and technical capacity in global surgical care, including a 2026–2027 fellowship cycle and enhanced member-focused programming and events.
