SECOND SERVINGS OF HOUSTON

Second Servings of Houston is Houston’s only prepared-and-perishable food rescue organization, founded to redirect unserved and unsold food from retailers, venues, distributors, and hospitality partners to local nonprofit meal providers. The organization operates as a donor-facing 501(c)(3) charity that delivers rescued food at no cost to partner nonprofits so those organizations can stretch their operating dollars and serve more people. Since beginning operations in 2015, Second Servings reports rescuing more than 19 million pounds of food (valued at over $150 million) and growing a network of 400+ food donors and 150+ nonprofit partners. In recent filings and public reports the organization shows significant growth: it reports serving roughly 200,000–300,000 Houstonians annually and reported approximately $1.3M in revenue and roughly $3.7M in total assets in its most recent fiscal data.
