About DRIFTER'S HEARTS OF HOPE
Founded in 2014, Drifter's Hearts of Hope works to circumvent the horse-slaughter pipeline by rescuing neglected, abandoned, and at-risk horses, providing veterinary care and rehabilitation, and finding forever homes through adoption and sponsorship.
Since its founding the organization has rescued hundreds of horses; in 2017 it launched the Annie Project to provide an alternative retirement pathway for dude-ranch horses. On July 9, 2024 DHOH announced a strategic pivot to focus primarily on long-term sanctuary care for the herd of horses already in its care while continuing limited adoption, foster and sponsorship programs.

Since inception the organization has rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of horses (reported as 735+), returning many to healthy lives and forever homes.
The Annie Project
Launched in 2017, the Annie Project established partnerships with dude ranches to provide retirement pathways for ranch horses and prevent shipment to slaughter.
Strategic Pivot to Sanctuary (July 9, 2024)
In mid-2024 DHOH announced a formal shift to focus on lifetime sanctuary care for its existing herd while maintaining limited adoption, foster and sponsorship programs to ensure long-term welfare.
