About OUT MY CLOSET INC
Out My Closet Inc is a donor-facing 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates mobile “Elevate” pop-up boutiques, counseling groups, educational internships, and social-media campaigns to serve under-resourced and unhoused LGBTQ+ youth and adults in New York City and South Florida. The organization curates high-quality, gender-affirming clothing and hygiene supplies and pairs distribution with supportive services (including HIV-related outreach and peer support) to reduce stigma and foster self-esteem. Founded in 2013 by Michael Narain after the suicide of an unhoused gay youth, Out My Closet focuses on trauma-informed, client-centered programming: mobile boutique distributions, MSM/Queer men's empowerment groups, an immersive internship program for LGBTQ+ students in public health and social services, and targeted online campaigns to amplify client voices. In recent years the group has relaunched social support groups (2023), reported sustained revenue and program activity in 2024, and expanded partnerships leading to municipal funding opportunities in 2025.
Notable achievements
Relaunched MSM/Queer Men’s Empowerment Groups
Reestablished peer support and group counseling for HIV-positive and HIV-vulnerable queer men in 2023, providing regular social support, stigma-reduction activities, and skills for coping and advocacy.
Secured CDBG Subrecipient Agreement (North Miami)
Named as a subrecipient for the City of North Miami’s 2025–2026 CDBG program to deliver Elevated Pop-Up Boutique events and onsite health navigation/HIV testing services to low- and moderate-income residents.

Maintained active program delivery and reported organizational revenue and expenses in 2024, demonstrating continued operating capacity to run mobile boutiques, internships, and counseling services.
