About RISE Colorado
RISE Colorado is a community-led education nonprofit based in Aurora, Colorado that trains, organizes, and supports family and student leaders from Black, Latino, immigrant, and refugee communities to influence district- and school-level decision-making.
Founded by women of color in 2012 and operating as a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 47-3566342), RISE combines knowledge-building, organizing, and leadership development to put families at the center of efforts to address opportunity gaps and improve academic outcomes.
In recent years RISE has conducted family- and student-led campaigns and events (including a 2023 family & student school board candidate forum), published community-centered reports, and continued partnerships with local research and philanthropy partners to scale its model.

Built a sustained family- and student-led organizing model since 2012 that has produced district-level policy wins and local engagement structures.
Published large-scale family report
Released a multilingual report documenting thousands of family conversations during the COVID-19 pandemic to center lived experiences and recommendations for school re-entry.
Hosted family & student-led school board forum (2023)
Convened candidate and community forums that elevated family- and student-led priorities in local school board races and public deliberations.
