About VILLAGES OF SAN MATEO COUNTY

Villages of San Mateo County (VSMC) is an umbrella, membership-based nonprofit that supports a network of three local Villages (Mid-Peninsula Village, Sequoia Village, and Village of the Coastside) serving communities across the San Mateo County peninsula and coast. The organization coordinates volunteer-delivered services such as transportation, technology assistance, light home maintenance and referrals, plus social, cultural and educational activities to reduce isolation and help members remain safely in their homes. VSMC operates through a combination of paid staff and a large volunteer base and partners with local health districts, community foundations, and municipal programs to expand services and fund scholarships for membership when needed. The organization has published annual reports for recent years and remains an active participant in the Village Movement (Village to Village Network and Village Movement California). VSMC is tax-exempt and has maintained year-to-year financial reporting: for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023 it reported approximately $331,584 in revenue and $331,142 in expenses; for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024 it reported approximately $324,218 in revenue and $430,155 in expenses. The organization has been recognized locally as a sustained provider of aging-in-place services since its tax-exempt designation in 2015.
