About RAGA MASSIVE INC

Raga Massive Inc (also known publicly as Brooklyn Raga Massive) is a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) musicians’ collective that presents Indian classical raga music in contemporary contexts, commissions new compositions, organizes performances and runs educational and community programs. The organization functions as a donor-facing arts nonprofit that documents and disseminates raga-inspired work through concerts, recordings and community-facing residencies. In recent years Raga Massive has been an active grantee and presenter: it received New York State Council on the Arts project support in 2021, multi-year state contract funding in 2022, a Rockefeller Brothers Fund grant to support a residency and performance, and was included among NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Cultural Development Fund awardees (FY25). The group continues to present concert series, residencies and collaborations with local arts partners while maintaining an active website, social presence and recorded releases.

Notable achievements

Rockefeller Brothers Fund grant

Received a $25,000 grant to provide general support and fund a residency and public performance at the Pocantico Center.

New York State arts funding

Awarded NYSCA Project Support (FY21) and received state contract/grant funding in 2022 to underwrite artist fees, outreach and the organization’s In D concert series.

NYC Department of Cultural Affairs support (FY25)

Named an awardee of the DCLA Cultural Development Fund (FY25), securing municipal support for ongoing programming and community presentations.
