About BK ROT INC

BK ROT is a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) that operates a micro-hauling, bicycle-powered composting service and youth employment program. The organization collects food scraps from households and small businesses, processes those materials on community land, and sells and donates finished compost to support urban growing and soil regeneration.

BK ROT centers environmental justice and workforce development by hiring and training local youth (primarily young people of color) as bikers and composters, maintaining year-round drop-off operations and business compost services, and partnering with municipal and community programs to scale a localized, regenerative approach to waste. In recent years BK ROT has expanded measurable impact (hundreds of thousands of pounds diverted and compost produced) and secured municipal support to grow its programs.
