About UNIVERSITY PREPARATORY SCHOOLS

University Preparatory Schools (U Prep) is a network of tuition‑free public charter elementary schools serving PreK–5 students in the Denver metropolitan area. The organization was founded in 2011 and is tax‑exempt as of May 2016. U Prep operates two K–5 campuses in Northeast Denver and launched a Commerce City PreK program for the 2024–25 school year; the network reports educating more than 600 children annually and supporting several hundred alumni. The school network focuses on college‑prep academics, character development, and comprehensive family and community supports with the goal of dramatically increasing post‑secondary attainment for students of color.
