Provide veterans from Northern Colorado, southeastern Wyoming, and western Nebraska with all-expense-paid trips to Washington, D.C. so they can visit the memorials built in their honor.
About HIGH PLAINS HONOR FLIGHT
High Plains Honor Flight is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) organization and an affiliate of the Honor Flight Network that organizes charter trips to Washington, D.C. for veterans so they may visit national memorials and receive a community 'welcome home.'
The organization is funded entirely by donations and local sponsorships and relies on hundreds of volunteers, medical teams and guardians to safely transport veterans (including WWII, Korean, Vietnam and Purple Heart recipients) on one-day or multi-day trips to the memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.
In recent years High Plains Honor Flight has expanded its fundraising and outreach (including annual fundraising events and community send-offs) and has worked to increase the number of veterans served each year.
Notable achievements
Sustained regional flights and growing service
High Plains Honor Flight has run regular charter trips in recent years (including major flights in 2022 and 2023) and reported carrying more than 100 veterans per trip; leadership announced plans in 2023 to expand from one annual flight toward two flights per year to serve more aging veterans.
Large-scale veteran participation
Recent trips carried large cohorts of veterans and guardians (examples include a May 2022 flight that carried roughly 122 veterans with 61 guardians and a 2023 flight carrying about 117 veterans with 60 guardians), reflecting strong volunteer and donor support.
Strong local partnerships
Developed ongoing partnerships with regional hospitals, universities, veteran posts and civic organizations to supply medical teams, facilities, transport and sponsorships that enable safe, high-quality trips.
